Youth Programs

Stay safe!



​Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. The Stay Safe!program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve his or her own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe! in a variety of different situations. 
* Participants must attend and participate in 100% of the course.

Ages 9-13 (or completed grade 3)
It focuses on:
     - Importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself
     - Importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own
     - How to stay safe at home and within the community
     - How to prepare, recognize and respond to unexpected situations, (i.e. inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits)
First Aid Content:
      Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/alone), feeling unwell, asthma                        (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and                  scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns)

5-6 hrs -  $40 incl. tax

Youth Programs

WHMIS, Fire Safety, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Medical Terminology, Lock-Out/Tag-Out


Blended learning courses take the specific course content from either CPR/AED, Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid and divides it into two components. Participants must first complete the self-paced online component, which includes a knowledge evaluation, then successfully complete an instructor-led classroom component (skills practice and evaluation session) in order to achieve certification. Participants must complete the classroom component within four weeks of completing the online component.
If a participant does not attend a classroom session within this time frame, they are required to take the online component again before being admitted into the classroom. Note: additional cost will apply.

First Aid Courses

CPR/AED only​​

This course provides the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and infants depending on the level chosen. CPR/AED meets legislation requirements for provincial/ territorial WSIB, and include the latest CPR guidelines and training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).  Courses are suitable for those looking for training for the workplace or for their own general interest. * Participants must attend and participate in 100% of the course in order to attain certification.

The Babysitting course, refreshed and revised, now has a greater emphasis on First Aid skills. The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviour to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. This updated curriculum, complete with new science, also provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency.
* Participants must attend and participate in 100% of the course.

Ages 11-15 (or completed grade 5)
It focuses on:
     - How to be responsible and demonstrate leadership
     - How to make good decisions and manage difficult behaviours
     - Information on children’s developmental stages, and specific strategies for each stage
     - How to feed, diaper, dress, and play with children and babies
     - How to recognize and prevent unsafe situations, make safe choices and promote safe behaviours
     - First aid skills
     - The business of babysitting

First Aid Content:
     Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), glove removal, recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/baby/alone), CPR                     (baby/child), illness, asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound             care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns), head, neck and back injuries,       broken bones, seizures
